Family photography – Amadores Beach

When I am given the confidence of a family that wants me to take their family pictures, I’m always very humble. And when I come back to my Mac and load all the pictures into it after a photo shoot, it’s always so exciting.

I use a lot of time to select the photos to send to the client, it´s not easy, I usually likes more photos that I can send to them. After the selection starts the editing. And when you sit and work with photos from a photo job, it´s like something happens, you get some kind of a “relationship” with people you’ve photographed, and actually, I would really just like to press the button in Photoshop called “treat-this-person-with -the-best-there-is “. But, it´s not so easy and not so fast.

The hours are flying away when you sit and work, evenings going over in nights. I´m often working with several hundred photos from one shoot. And then there are hours to look through all the editing, to see if you have done the best to the people on the photos, so they look their best.

Well, after some days and hours of work, here are the results of the photo shoot I had with this lovely and cool Norwegian-Canadian family, Arnstein Johannes, Jaya, Jéleena and Johannes Philip.

Malene

This is Malene, a young girl who is a student at the Norwegian School at Gran Canaria. She and two friends of her, were with us to take some test shoots. I had just bought my 85 mm, 1,2 lens from Canon and needed to do some testing, and the girls wanted some photos. Not bad at all if you ask me, Malene looks great!

Oskar

Oskar had his big day in april, and he is now “konfirmert” like we say in Norway. Family and friends were gathered for his party to celebrate The Great Oskar I also took some photos of him in December, and now we took his photos for his cards. I have also taken some of his family in the studio that I will put here later.

Well, here is Oskar from the session outside in Puerto Rico. Congratulation with your “konfirmasjon” (what is this in English???) Oskar!!

Valentina – at home with her family

Here is some more photos of sweet little Valentina with her lovely family. Valentina is 12 days old on these photos and we visited the family in their home in Arguineguin.
Her big sister Iselin, was not home when we were there, she is a stewardess in Norwegian and was up in the air working. But here is Valentina with her mom Lisa, father Gilberto and her brothers Emilio, Elias and Leandro.

Valentina – Newborn

On march 27, little Valentina was born here on Gran Canaria. I know her mother and father very well, and she is so lucky to be born into this family. She has one big sister and three brothers, so I don´t think there will be any boring moments in this family.

Her mom and I have planed for a while that we were going to take photos of little Valentina a few days after she was born. We have been talking about what she should wear and I have bought many cute things, like flowers, different cloths, hair band and all kinds of cute stuff. The plan was also that she should sleep during the photo session. But, I´ll have to learn a little bit more about newborns, you don´t tell them when to sleep, the choose it by themselves. And Valentina chose not to sleep during the session, except for a few minutes, and was not too happy with the situation at all. But I got some photos of her, and some days later, I went to their home to do a home session, I´ll show some of those photos later.

But, however, isn´t she cute?

Henriette and Claudio – Anfi del Mar

Henriette and Claudio have just got engaged, and on wednesday I took photos of them and Henriette´s family at lovely Anfi del Mar. I did post the family photos in the last blog post, and I have found out that I had to make one post only for Henriette and Claudio also. They are such a cute couple and are fits each other so well, and I just love taking photos of them!

On wednesday we did the photo session for this lovely family from Norway. We went to Anfi del Mar, which is such a lovely place, not only to spend a vacation, but also to do photo session at. The area around the resort and the fabulous beach are so perfect for taking photos. So thank you all at Anfi for giving me the permission to be able to use this fantastic area.

This time we had a big family, it was grandmother and grandfather Bjørg and Sigbjørn, it was Kari and Eirik and their three children Thomas, Henriette and Øystein. Henriette has just been engaged to Claudio, and we took a lot of photos of them, and I will set up a blog post very soon with some more photos of them.

Family photography – in the studio

Last week I had a wonderful family from Norway in the studio. Well, mostly all my customers comes from Norway, although I do live in Spain. And most of those who I do photograph, do not live on Gran Canaria. They are visiting, for a shorter or longer period. Last week, I met Anne and Per Anders at my favorite hairdresser, Frederick. And they wanted me to take photos of their family. Only one problem, they were soon to leave for Norway again. And since I have been rather busy lately, the only possibility was to do it the same day as they were leaving. So we had to get early up and we managed to work about two hours before they had to leave, they had a plane to catch.
So, here is the result, here is Anne, Per Anders, and their very cute and lovely children, Oliver and Håkon:

Couple photography – RIU Flamingo in Playa del Ingles

Today´s blog post is about Steinar and Elsa. The history about this photo shoot starts in Bodø, up in north of Norway. I met their son Olav last year when we both was gathered at the university together with our class. We had one week there and that was the start of the «Nettjournalistikk» class I took last year. During the year we have held contact most of the students, although we have been studying from our homes, by internet.
I was contactet by Olav a few weeks ago, he was going to to spend some weeks at Gran Canaria with his parents, Elsa and Steinar, and asked me if I could take some photos of his parents.
And last friday we all met, and had a wonderful photo shoot in the hotel garden at Riu Flamingo in Play del Ingles. It was very nice to meet Olav again, and so nice to meet his parents too.

I think Elsa and Steinar is the sweetest couple I have taken photos of, they are such a lovely couple. They both celebrated their 80th anniversary last year, who would believe that?

Family photography – Anfi del Mar

On saturday I had a great pleasure to meet a wonderful family. A family who was gathering to celebrate mom´s aniversary. The photo shoot was done at wonderful Anfi del Mar. I am never concerned about the weather here at Gran Canaria, but this day there was an awful wind, and I was really concerned about the shoot. I knew the ladies were going to Frederick for makeup and to do their hair. I did not like this weather. It was also a calima, wich means wery warm and dusty wind. So this was a little bit challenging. Luckily the wind calmed down a little bit during the shoot and when we were finished, the wind was almost gone.

Well, back to these wonderful people I was lucky to meet this saturday afternoon. The young ones lives all over the world, one in Sweden, one in Macedonia and one on St. Martin in the Caribbean, and now they had come to Gran Canaria without their mom knowing anything. What a surprise! On friday was the big celebration with a big party for their gorgeous mom.

Originally Slavica and Mita are coming from Former Yugoslavia, but they have lived many years in Sweden. In 1995 the left the cool north and moved to sunny Gran Canaria.
In Playa del Ingles they runs one of the best restaurant on the island, La Espetada. You have to try it, the food is so special and so good. Made with love and care.
