Wedding in Altea

In September Wenche and Kjell Arne from Norway got married. And they had chosen to do so in beautiful Altea at the mainland Spain.

Altea and surrounding areas, are so loved by so many Norwegians. And maybe not so strange. It’s just a short flight from Norway to Alicante, then a short drive up to the beautiful Altea, with all the orange trees, almond trees and the beautiful countryside, the good wine, the tasty tapas … and so on.

The bride and groom had chosen to celebrate at an earlier olive oil mill, now redesigned into a beautiful, small, rustic style hotel, with a corresponding wonderful reataurant and garden.

Still there are olive presses as part of the interior of the restaurant and, by taking a tour around the area, you will find equipment and tools from a bygone era when they produced olive oil here.

The hotel is family run and has only 22 rooms. In return, the large rooms are hold in a rustic style. All rooms were reserved for Wenche and Kjell Arne these days. Geir and I were fortunate to stay here during these days. Which of course was incredibly convenient, as with several suitcases with photographic equipment and needs to have it nearby all time.

We were so lucky to be in Altea from Thursday to Sunday and had some wonderful days.

The bride and groom had chosen to use a professional wedding planner to take care of their wedding. My good collaborator, wedding planner Marianne Wulfken at Beautiful Wedding, was responsible for everything would go smoothly. And it is not few details that she had to ensure, messages to give, control all the suppliers, right song at the right time from the musicians, the right things to happen at the right time. In all, all imaginable and unimaginable small and big things that one should have control over, here comes the wedding planner in. And it is not difficult to notice that Marianne knows her job, she has done this before and the bridal couple could be confident that Marianne had full control and they could enjoy their day without any worries.

Marianne and I have worked together before, and it was with pleasure to say yes when Marianne called me and asked us to come up to Altea to photograph Wenche and Kjell Arne and their wedding. I thought about it maybe half a second, before I said yes.
Wenche and I’ve also had contact for a long time in advance before the wedding. Although wedding planner Marianne was doing the organization, it was important for Wenche and me having contact too. Wenche had many creative ideas and suggestions for the pictures that we have taken. She also had prepared a lot which made it incredibly exciting to be the photographer. Details under the shoes were neatly mounted, banner with “thank you” was made, she purchased funny glasses, mustaches, mouths and crowns and so on. There was not much that was left to randomness.
The actual shooting was full of spontaneity and wonderful atmosphere from both the newlyweds, maid of honor and the best man.

It was not difficult to see that they really enjoyed the day and the atmosphere.

The ceremony took place in a beautiful Spanish church. The Norwegian priest Trine Færevaag held a beautiful ceremony for the couple and their guests. I was of course touched, as I often am, even though I’m “only” the photographer. The church was beautifully decorated by Beautiful Wedding.
After the ceremony, Marianne and the girls from Beautiful Wedding, arranged with Cava outside on the church square. Then we went to a small great place nearby the sea, and took pictures. It was incredibly hot this day, over 30 degrees, so it was nice to get some breeze from the sea, while we found shade under the pine trees in the small forest grove towards the sea.
After shooting, it was prepared for the wedding reception and all the guests greeted the bride couple, at the hotel with all the olive presses, to music from musicians who were brought in to the wedding.
The wedding party continued as weddings do, with good food, great speeches, cake cutting, dance and party. And the party continued into the night.

Geir and I had to get up early the next day, full of good memories and not to forget about, full memory cards that were neatly backed up on various hard disks and placed in different bags, we couldn´t risk anything to be lost from this fantastic wedding. The journey back went first to Madrid, and so on to Gran Canaria.

This had not just been a fantastic wedding, but also a wonderful adventurous and hardworking weekend.

I just have to thank you Wenche and Kjell Arne, I’m really happy that we got to be part of this, and we wish you lots of happiness, joy and humor for the years ahead.

And last but not least, thanks to Marianne Wulfken and Beautiful Wedding for giving me and Geir opportunities to say yes to such a wonderful experience.
And if you wish to have wedding in Altea on this wonderful hotel, or other beautiful locations in the area, then I would advise you to contact Marianne in Beautiful Wedding, she has extensive experience with wedding planning here and know the area very well.

Enjoy!
